Who Is GUB?
Creative Producer, Director and Digital Marketing Consultant
About Me
My name is Matt Gubler, more commonly known as Gub by friends, coworkers, and collaborators. I’m an Artist, Producer, and Director driven by a passion for Art, Culture, and Expression.
Growing up in Portland shaped my artistic vision, moving to Salt Lake City refined it.
I’ve always been drawn to raw, unfiltered, and gritty realism that exemplifies the beauty and privilege of life—the kind of art that tells a story beneath the surface. My work, while often conceptual, is always grounded in reality. I want people to feel a sense of truth, to see reflections of real life and real experiences in what I create.
My Approach
At the core of my creative process is a client- and team-first mentality. Every project, no matter how big or small, receives the same level of care and attention. I wholeheartedly believe in what I create, and give my all to the process. I feel an immense amount of loyalty to the people who give me the bandwidth to create for them. Accurately embodying their brand or company’s vision into my work, is not only something I happily accept as a healthy challenge, but is also extremely fulfilling.
As a producer and director, I recognize that I’m only as strong as my team, which is why I prioritize empowering everyone I work with and encourage finding a belief in what we create, as a team. When individuals can operate at their highest level within their role, and are equally engaged in the vision, we create work that is nothing short of exceptional.
Influences & Philosophy
I draw an immense amount of inspiration from Virgil Abloh and Rick Rubin—two visionaries who mastered the balance between intention and intuition, and whose delicate approach to creation has made their work timeless. Their philosophies push me to approach my own work with respect, patience, vision, and love.
Beyond my professional work, I bring creativity into every aspect of my life—from fashion, music, and cooking to how I design my personal space. Every element serves as a source of inspiration, feeding into a larger, cohesive vision.
Ultimately, I see my life’s work as a breadcrumb trail—a legacy of creativity that outlives me. Whether someone discovers my work now or a hundred years from today, I want them to see a clear, unbroken thread of who I was through what I created.
Let’s create something Beautiful.
